5:30 AM – Morning Chaos & Mama Duties
The day starts early because #mumlife. I like to get a walk or jog in before the kids wake up and enjoy some fresh air before the day really starts. Once I get back from my jog then it’s on to making breakfasts, trying to dress a toddler (we all know how that goes!) packing school lunches, and convincing tiny humans to put on their shoes… or at least find them. I get myself ready for the day and squeeze in a few minutes to check overnight DMs and social media comments. A quick scroll while sipping on my freshly made (much needed) coffee and I’m already mentally planning the day ahead.
8:00 AM – Drop-Off & Commute
Once the kids are sorted, it’s go-time. Daycare and school drop off first, then I enjoy the rural drive from Palmerston North out to The Herb Farm in the mighty Manawatu. This is my little pocket of calm before the creative storm. I always love listening to music on the way and I also enjoy listening to podcasts on digital trends to help inspire some new ideas.
9:00 AM – Emails, Engagement & Espresso (because, balance)
Arriving at The Herb Farm, I check in with the team - what’s new, what’s launching, what magic are the formulators working on? Then it’s inbox time: collabs, customer love, and planning upcoming campaigns. While enjoying my second coffee, I dive into engaging with our Herb Farm community because, honestly, that's what makes this job so great – I love chatting with you guys!
10:30 AM – Content Creation & Natural Skincare Love
This is where the magic happens. Whether it’s capturing new footage for Reels featuring our best-selling Hydrating Overnight Mask or curating an Instagram carousel about the benefits of botanical ingredients, the focus is always on showing the power of natural skincare. I collect my props and featured products, set up the scene for the shoot, edit, and tweak to make sure every post reflects The Herb Farm’s ethos: pure, effective, and non-toxic beauty.
12:30 PM – Lunch & A Walk in the Gardens
The best part of working at The Herb Farm? The surroundings. A lot of my inspiration comes from working in such a beautiful location. Lunch is often a chicken salad or something delicious from our Cafe, followed by a walk through the gardens. It’s the ultimate mid-day reset and the perfect setting for an impromptu Reel or Story post.
1:00 PM – SEO & Strategy (aka, making sure we get seen!)
Time to refine our approach. What keywords are trending? How can we optimize our blog posts and website to rank higher for ‘natural skincare’? I work with the A-Team (a.k.a Marketing) to update product photography, videography, and brainstorm ways to get our products in front of more eyes - because the world needs to know about the magic of natural skincare!
3:00 PM – Reels, TikTok & Behind-the-Scenes Magic
Back at my desk (or sometimes, sprawled on the grass outside in the beautiful environment of The Herb Farm), it’s time to batch-create content. Whether it’s a fun ASMR-worthy skincare video, a ‘get ready with me’ using The Herb Farm’s glow-enhancing serums, or a fun trending sound, this is where creativity flows. Every post highlights the transformative power of natural skincare.
4:30 PM – Analytics & Adjustments
A quick check-in on what’s working and what’s not - are our followers loving with that last post? Are we getting good engagement on Stories? Data helps refine our strategy, so I tweak our approach as needed.
5:00 PM – Wrap-Up & Mama Mode
Final DMs, comments, and one last scroll before logging off (well, kind of). Then it’s time to pick up the kids, cook dinner, and somehow squeeze in some self-care - cue the Purifying Cleansing Cream and a relaxing bath with our signature Nourishing Body Oil before bed.
And just like that, another day in the life of a Digital Designer & Content Creator at The Herb Farm is done!
Catch you later!
